Although we can often enjoy our second home until well into the autumn, the truth is that the official holidays are over and it is time to consider doing a deep clean and fixing our house so that next year it is in perfect condition.

Although we can often enjoy our second home until well into the autumn, the truth is that the official holidays are over and it is time to consider doing a deep clean and fixing our house so that next year it is in perfect condition.

At Lasose Properties & Investments we leave you with these tips to get your summer house ready for next year.

Picking up and putting away

Bearing in mind that this is a house that we are not going to return to until next year, it is a bit absurd to leave decorative objects to gather dust during all these months. In the same way, we should go over everything in the kitchen and take away any perishable foodstuffs. If your home has outdoor space, make sure you put away all the chairs, hammocks, parasols and awnings so that they’ll be ok to use next year.

Deep Clean

Once all the furniture and ornaments have been put away it’s time to carry out a general clean, preferably using old sheets to cover the furniture to keep it pristine. It’s also important to make sure all the white goods are properly clean so as to prevent bad smells and mildew. It’s also a good idea to wash all the linen before putting it away, so that its nice and clean ready for when the good weather starts again next year.

Checking the installations

All the sockets and taps, both inside and outside, should be checked, including the hoses and pipes, and the best thing to do is to turn the electricity off at the mains and close the water stopcock.

With all these tips and a final check of the house, everything will be perfectly clean and tidy so that next year it will be much easier to start enjoying your second home from day one.
